Lamborghini Urus Might not be Made in Italy Posted: The Lamborghini Urus SUV could serve to double sales for its brand, but doing so could force the fighting bull brand to build cars outside of its homeland. The Lamborghini Urus could be the first Lamborghini produced outside of Italy if it gets the green light for production, that is. The Volkswagen Group still hasn't officially approved the Urus for production, but Lamborghini is expected to have the model ready by 2017 and CEO Stephan Winkelmann believes it could help double sales. If the Urus gets the official nod, sales are targeted at 2,500 to 3,000 units per year, which makes production capacity at the company's Sant'Agata Bolognese factory a valid concern. SEE ALSO: Lamborghini Urus Could Boast Huracán Price Tag If he were faced with the decision to produce the Urus SUV outside of Italy or not to produce it at all, Winkelmann would opt for building it outside Lamborghini's home country in order to add a third model to the lineup. The Urus could be produced at the Volkswagen Group's Slovakia plant, where the next-generation Cayenne, Touareg and Q7 SUVs will be made. As for turbocharging technology, Winkelmann admits that it has to be an option for Lamborghini to meet emissions requirements worldwide. For now, the company believes naturally-aspirated engines are still a better solution for performance, but it won't rule out turbocharging in the future. Most Read Car Reviews of the Week: November 23 – 30 Posted: Our review of Toyota's new hydrogen fuel-cell powered car, the Mirai, was the most popular last week by a huge margin. The Mirai has a range of 300 miles on a single tank of hydrogen, which will be provided free from Toyota for at least three years. Check out our review to find out our thoughts on the car and its unique style. Alfa Romeo's triumphant return to the US comes in the form of the 4C sports car and our review of it hits the third spot on the list this week. A true mid-engine sports car, the 4C provides great handling, but is it a livable daily driver? The 2015 Volvo V60 Polestar makes the list in the third spot. This is one station wagon that forgoes stereotypes and provides a thrilling drive experience thanks to suspension tuning and a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder with 345 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Ford's refreshed Expedition slots into the fourth position. Exclusively powered by the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, the Expedition has received a full refresh inside and out. Finally, we have the new Porsche Macan. The Macan is Porsche's new crossover, introduced as a little brother to the Cayenne SUV. Can it continue the Cayenne's strong sales performance? 2016 Cadillac ELR Debut Delayed Posted: The 2016 Cadillac ELR was supposed to make its debut in L.A. this year, but it was a no show. Originally on the L.A. Auto Show's world debut page, the 2016 Cadillac ELR was removed a week before the show with no explanation. According to a recent report, the ELR has been delayed as the American automaker continues to fine-tune the electrified luxury coupe's autonomous driving technologies and as a result, its debut has been delayed indefinitely. Nicknamed ELR 2.0, it is being touted as a "highly autonomous vehicle" and will likely be the first with GM's new Super-Cruise feature. SEE ALSO: 2014 Cadillac ELR Review – Video It is also likely that GM will debut the next-generation Volt prior to showing off what it has in the works for the ELR. Considering the ELR and the Volt share the same platform, it would make sense for the luxury variant to also benefit from the Volt's new electric powertrain. Either way, it appears that Cadillac has some exciting things in store for the ELR in hopes of making it a formidable offering in what's becoming a popular segment. Honda NSX Order Book Already Closed in UK Posted: The production Acura NSX hasn't even debuted, but that hasn't stopped enthusiasts from securing one for when they're available. The NSX will be sold as a Honda model in the UK and according to a recent report, the Japanese automaker has already received 100 deposits of £3000 ($4,700) which means there's enough demand to cover the NSX's first-year allotment in the country. Dealers in the UK have been taking orders for the NSX for the past two years and has officially closed the order books on the limited-volume hybrid, which is expected to make its production debut at next year's Detroit Auto Show. SEE ALSO: 2016 Acura NSX Burns to the Ground on the Nurburgring If it's any consolation, and we doubt it is, shoppers in the UK can now put their deposit and name down for the Honda Civic Type-R which is due in showrooms in August or September 2015. Again, dealerships will need £3000 to secure a Civic Type-R, which should be a nice hot hatch for Europeans to enjoy. [Source: CAR] Discuss this story at our Acura NSX forum |
