Mercedes New C63 Coupe Gets a DTM-Inspired Special Edition Posted: The Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe's Launch Edition will be inspired by the German automaker's DTM race car. The DTM race car will make its official debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and its livery became the influence for the Edition 1 model for the C63 and C63 S Coupes. The outside has a striking combination of designo selenite grey magno with yellow foil treatment while black wheels are accented by yellow lips. Yellow racing stripes can be found on the hood, roof, trunk and sides above the side skirts. The Edition 1 also comes with performance seats and an aerodynamic package. SEE ALSO: 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe Dominates the Horsepower War The Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe is powered by a 4.0-liter Biturbo V8 engine with either 469 hp or 503 hp depending on trim. The standard model comes with 479 lb-ft of torque while the more powerful C63 S has 516 lb-ft. The DTM race car variant is expected to start competing in the 2016 season with its first test runs commencing this winter. "The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupé will again set new standards for driving dynamics and design. So, the vehicle provides the ideal basis for our DTM car," said Mercedes-AMG DTM boss Ulrich Fritz. "I'm already looking forward to seeing the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM compete in 2016. Our aim with this vehicle is, of course, to continue the Mercedes-Benz success story in the DTM." 2016 Mercedes C-Class Adds Diesel, Plug-in Hybrid Models Posted: The Mercedes C-Class lineup is growing for the 2016 model year, adding more powertrain options for buyers to choose from. Entering a new generation for the 2015 model year, Mercedes only offered the C-Class in two variants: C300 4MATIC and C400 4MATIC. For 2016, the C400 will be replaced by the sportier C450 AMG 4MATIC, while those looking for fuel efficiency can opt for either the C300d diesel or the C350e plug-in hybrid. Staying in the lineup will be the base model C300 with a starting price of $39,875 including destination. The base model C300 is now available with rear-wheel drive as standard with 4MATIC all-wheel drive costing $2,000 additional. The C300 will continue to be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 241 hp. SEE ALSO: 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Review Details on the C300d and C350e plug-in hybrid models haven't been announced, but the diesel sedan will likely be powered by a 2.1-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel with 201 hp. The C300d will come with 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard. The plug-in hybrid model will have a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder paired to an electric motor for a peak output of 275 hp. Being offered in ZEV states only, the C350e will be rear-wheel drive with no 4MATIC option. Then there's the C450 AMG Sport 4MATIC with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 sporting 362 hp. Mercedes has revealed that the C450 AMG Sport will start from $51,725. Of course, there's the range-topping C63 models delivering 469 hp or 503 hp depending on trim from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8.
