Looks

Currently in its first generation, the Aveo has been sporting the same design for over a decade, and has only undergone minor facelifts since its introduction in 2002. Sporting large headlamps, a chrome grille, triangular tail lamps and flared wheel arches, the Aveo is far from striking. As a matter of fact, it scores quite well on the boooring scale.

Feels

Hard plastics on the dashboard, hard plastics on the door panels, and hard plastics on the sun visors; the Aveo is best described as a plastic container. Accompanied by an extremely dated instrument cluster, and rear seats that could qualify as being orthopedic for how stiff they are, I wonder why the Aveo is still seen on the showroom floor.

Engineering

Although the Aveo is far from bursting with standard equipment, it does pack in some neat features. With four speakers, a USB port, and a CD player with MP3 capability as standard equipment, the economical Chevy manages to cover its driver and passengers' music needs at the least.

What's on offer?

The 2015 Chevrolet Aveo is equipped with a 1.4 litre engine under the hood that sends 100 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque through a 4 speed automatic transmission to the front wheels. According to Chevrolet, the Aveo will deliver 100 kilometers in exchange for 7.3 liters of fuel. Quite frankly, that seems a bit steep for a measly 1.4 litre engine.

Summing it…

Apart from the abundance of head and leg room in the rear seats, the Aveo seriously hasn't got anything going for it. With competition from the Korean's heating up on a daily basis, the Aveo doesn't stand a chance in front of the aesthetically and technically advanced Korens.
