Looks

Over the years, the Elantra has matured well and for the 5th generation flaunts Hyundai's fluidic design inspiration. Up front, the 2015 Hyundai Elantra houses large headlamps that wrap around the sides of the body along with the signature hexagonal grille that helps identify it as part of the Hyundai family. Depending on the amount you're willing to shell out, the Elantra sports 15, 16 or 17 inch wheels. As far as designs go, the Elantra Coupe and Sedan are nearly identical from every angle.

Feels

The similarity between the Coupe and Sedan are carried forward to the interior as well.  The dashboard is divided into two prominent sections: the top, a nice soft yet firm sponge and the bottom, that makes blatant use of hard plastics. In the race to be innovative, the A/C vents at the far ends of the dashboard have been placed rather low and are now at chest level for the driver and passenger – quite odd, really. Though the rear seats offer decent amounts of leg room, the same cannot be said for headroom.

Engineering

When specced in top trim , the Elantra packs in a decent amount of kit. Cruise control, a heated steering wheel with audio controls, push button start, dual zone air conditioning and 6 airbags to be precise.

What's on offer?

The Elantra Sedan and Coupe both come with either a 1.6 litre engine capable of producing 128 horsepower and 157 Nm of torque, or a 1.8 litre engine that is good for 148 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission.

Summing it…

With a price range of AED 51,000 to AED 73,000 the Elantra faces stiff competition from the likes of the Toyota Yaris and Nissan Sunny. However, as far as looks and features are concerned, the Elantra has an edge over its competition.
