2016 Nissan Leaf Priced from $29,860 Posted: The 2016 Nissan Leaf will have a starting price of $29,860 including destination. The new battery is standard on the Leaf SV and Leaf SL models, which start from $35,050 and $37,640 respectively. Pricing does not take into account any federal or state tax credits and incentives. Wide Body RC F Highlights Lexus Booth At SEMA Posted: Lexus is showing off its hottest new rides at SEMA including the brand new GS F sport sedan and a wide body RC F. In its hard-to-miss Burnt Orange wrap, the RC F sports an awesome custom wide body GT Pandem aero kit, that may or may not have been inspired by the brands GT3 race car (which is also on display at the show.) Inside, the car features an Evasive Motorsports six point roll cage and rear cover panels and this Lexus wears 20-inch Rays Engineering Volk Racing TE-37 that are done up in a matte blue gunmetal color-scheme and wrapped up with Bridgestone Potenza tires. Under the hood is a performance intake from Takeda Retain intake system and a GReddy performance exhaust. Helping the car handle is its KW Suspension Varient 3 Coilover Kit and six-piston Brembo brakes at each wheel. As mentioned, the RC F isn't the only car on display by Lexus. The new GS F also features a Burnt Orange wrap by 3M and many of the same performance upgrades that the wide body RC F sports including the Takeda Retain Intake, the GReddy performance exhaust and the Brembo brakes. The GS F wears glossy black Advan Racing GT wheels and Falken Azenis FK453 tires. Like the RC F, the GS F is put together by Gordon Ting/Beyond Marketing. Lexus also brought along a new IS 200t and RC 200t, that both show off the tuning and customization potential of the entry level products. The IS 200t by VIP Auto Salon fulfills the pre-requisite amount of carbon fiber for an automaker to be allowed into the SEMA show, with the Seibon Carbon Aero kit that includes carbon fiber front lip spoiler, side step, rear diffuser and rear under spoiler. The Guy S. De Alwis and 360 Motorworks designed RC 200t sports a Cosmic Blue 3M wrap, and wears massive 20-inch Stance SF01 wheels with Toyo Proxes T1 Sport tires. The RC 200t uses Tanabe NF210 lowering springs and a Tanabe Medalion touring exhaust.' Additionally, a 2014 Lexus IS 350 is on display at the show, though not at the Lexus booth. With its unique wrap, the IS 350 is at the Orafol booth. Be sure to get a closer look with our gallery above. Loading, please wait... |
Ford Grabs Hottest Car, Sport-Compact and Truck Awards of SEMA 2015 Posted: It's not a huge surprise to see the Ford Mustang and F-150 named as the hottest car and truck of SEMA, but seeing the Focus win the show's hottest Sport-Compact of the show too means the Blue Oval has swept the hottest vehicles award this year. This is the first time one automaker has won all three awards at SEMA, and while it's surprising to see the Focus winning the sport compact category, the amount of customized vehicles on the show floor helps prove the point. "Winning SEMA's hottest vehicle awards for Mustang, Focus and F-Series is a great affirmation of the popularity of Ford vehicles with this trendsetting part of the market," said Dave Pericak, director, Ford Performance, who accepted all of the honors at the annual awards breakfast. "We're proud the aftermarket has embraced these three vehicles with as much enthusiasm as our customers invest to personalize their Mustang, Focus and F-Series." While the Mustang and F-150 have won the awards multiple times over the years, this is just the first time the Focus has won it. Loading, please wait... |
Next-Gen Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S Confirmed Posted: A next-generation Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S sports car has been confirmed. Up until now, both automakers have for the most part been vague on whether they will work together on a next-generation sports car, but the president of Subaru has confirmed that a next-gen model is coming. Speaking to Automotive News, Yasuyuki Yoshinaga said that the two companies have already agreed to do a full model change. Unfortunately, neither automaker has determined when it will be introduced. Originally launched in 2012, the Subaru BRZ is the car sold by the Japanese automaker in the U.S. that doesn't have all-wheel drive. SEE ALSO: Subaru BRZ STI Considering Electric Turbocharger In related news, Yoshinaga also confirmed that Subaru has settled on a maximum annual capacity of 1.03-million vehicles in order to preserve the brand's niche appeal. The company currently has no new factories in development but added that capacity could be pushed to 1.1-million units with overtime. Next year, the company will add production of the redesigned Impreza to its factory in Lafayette, Indiana and expects to produce a new seven-seater crossover at the same plant. Designed specifically for the U.S. market, the new model won't carry the Tribeca nameplate and won't be sold elsewhere. Discuss this story on our Subaru BRZ Forum Loading, please wait... |
Honda Ridgeline Baja Race Truck is Ready to Tear Up the Desert Posted: The Honda Ridgeline Baja Race Truck has been revealed under the lights at the 2015 SEMA show, but in a few short weeks it will be tackling the Mexican desert in this year's SCORE Baja 1000. It also offers our first glimpse at what the new 2017 Honda Ridgeline will look like, with the brand saying that the racing body borrows cues from the production truck. Honda's small pickup will be back in dealers in the first half of next year, after taking a short hiatus in 2015. The race truck uses a twin-turbocharged V6 that pumps out more than 550 horsepower. While a 550-hp production Ridgeline isn't likely, Honda says that the block, cylinder heads and crankshaft are all borrowed straight from the production engine. "We're happy to share some of the high-level styling direction for Ridgeline and to celebrate this desert race truck that signals the return of HPD power to Baja," said Art St. Cyr, president of Honda Performance Development. "While this race truck is unique and different from the production Ridgeline, it does a nice job of expressing not only our styling direction but also the fact that the Ridgeline, for all its unique qualities, has been and will continue to be a pickup with true truck capability." The new truck will mark Honda's return to Baja with its Ridgeline, which captured wins in 2008 and 2010 in the grueling off-road race. 2016 Honda CR-V Impacted by Takata Airbag Recall Posted: The 2016 Honda CR-V is now tied to the massive Takata airbag recall. Honda has identified a problem with the airbag inflators used in the 2016 Honda CR-V after the supplier experienced a failure while performing cold tests for a driver frontal airbag module. According to a notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the ruptured inflator was pulled from a production lot used in 515 new CR-V crossovers and prompted the campaign. SEE ALSO: 2015 Honda CR-V Review The agency warns that "in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal airbag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death." An analysis of the exploded module found a centerline crack in the airbag inflator and although the cause has not been determined, it could be from improper stamping or defective material used to build the metal housing. The issue does not seem directly related to the previous Takata airbag recall that involved propellant-degradation issues in high humidity areas. That recall has affected millions of vehicles worldwide. Investigators have yet to find a root cause for both issues. Discuss this story on our Honda CR-V Forum Loading, please wait... |
