Mercedes Recalls 126,260 Vehicles for Airbag Flaw Posted: Mercedes is recalling over 100,000 C-Class and GLK-Classes for a potential defect with the airbags in its vehicles. In a recall notice filed to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) today, the German automaker noted that the flaw could potentially affect 126,260 units, including 98,750 C300 sedans, 2,236 C63 sedans and 21,013 C350 sedans from the 2008-09 model years and 4,261 GLK350 crossovers from the 2010 model year. The issue can cause airbags to inflate unexpectedly without a crash, or even not go off during an accident. The flaw is caused by corrosion in the airbag control unit. Drivers will be tipped off to an issue by a warning light on the dashboard that will tell if the airbag control unit is malfunctioning, but unintended airbag inflations have no warning signal. Unlike past airbag recalls, the supplier of the faulty equipment is not Takata, but is german company Continental AG. Mercedes identified the cause and has began issuing notices to owners who can take their vehicles the dealer for a free fix. Loading, please wait... |
Gallery: The Most Awesome Nissan GT-Rs from SEMA 2015 Posted: The Nissan GT-R is a legendary machine that has proven to be a popular platform for aftermarket tuners. We scoured SEMA for the best GT-Rs, and there are a lot on the show grounds, but the best one is a KHUL Racing GT-R that was shipped to Las Vegas from Tokyo specially for this show. This is the craziest GT-R we've ever seen and it's one of the most epic cars at SEMA this year in general. ALSO SEE: Full Coverage from SEMA 2015 This custom GT-R has a stunning metallic finish that's been hand engraved, and as it that wasn't enough, the car also has an aggressive widebody kit, custom alloy wheels and a bunch of performance upgrades. Flip through the gallery above to check out the KHUL GT-R and other awesome Godzillas we saw at SEMA this year. Discuss this story on our Nissan Forum Loading, please wait... |
Posted: The 2014 SEMA Show marked the start of a new tuning trend and at this year's aftermarket car parts expo the fad is in full swing. Called Rauh-Welt Begriff, or RWB for short, the Japanese tuner of retro air-cooled Porsches has now hit the tuning mainstream in America. Helping make the push, the folks at IForged Wheels teamed up with RWB to bring a collection of five ridiculously modified P-cars to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. But they weren't the only ones with an RWB car to show off. We've scoured the show floor to (hopefully) snap a photo (or two) of every RWB model that made the trip to Sin City. Enjoy. Audi Issues Stop-Sale on Diesel Vehicles Posted: Audi is issuing a stop-sale on several products following an investigation regarding the 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engines used in Volkswagen Auto Group vehicles. The decision is fuelled by the concern that these motors also use a "defeat device", which is not compliant with emissions standards and is more damaging to the environment than advertised. Porsche also cancelled sales of its Cayenne diesel, while Audi's stop-sale will affect new and CPO Audi vehicles. The stop sale affects the 2016 Audi A6, Audi A7, Audi A8L, and Audi Q5 equipped with a 3.0 liter V6 TDI engine. The problem also concerns vehicles between 2013-2015. Audi has also removed TDI options from their website. According to an advisory sent to US dealers, no recall is planned at this time. "Volkswagen Group of America is working with regulators and will take all steps necessary to remedy any issues, including a potential emissions recall," said the advisory. "This is an emissions matter and not a safety issue. Owners of these vehicles do not need to take any action at this time." Discuss this story on our Audi Forum Loading, please wait... |
Alfa Romeo to Delay Giulia Sedan and Upcoming SUV Posted: Fans of gorgeous Italian luxury sedans (I'm talking to you, Associate Editor Craig Cole) may have to wait a bit longer for the arrival of the Giulia sedan. According to Automotive News Europe, the upcoming vehicles that will anchor the revival of the Alfa brand are being delayed. The Giulia sedan was supposed to be launched in Europe at the end of this year, but is instead set to launch in the middle of next year. The SUV, which is based on the Giulia, won't hit the market until 2017. American debuts of these vehicles occur up to six months after their European launch. According to sources, Alfa is delaying the vehicle in order to refine its safety and ride quality. Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne explained late last month that they are re-examining the global expansion of the Alfa brand, due to the economic slowdown in the Chinese market. He then reaffirmed a 5 billion euro investment that will be used to boost Alfa's annual global sales to 400,000 units with eight new models. The AutoNews report suggests that these sales targets are overly optimistic, and that Marchionne is doing his best to manage expectations of the Alfa revival.
