Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that it will bring three U.S. debuts to the 2015 L.A. Auto Show next week.

Making its global auto show debut will be the 2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible, fittingly in Southern California, where convertible models actually thrive year round. The 2017 Jaguar XE will make its global auto show debut in U.S. specification, while the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace will make its North American debut. In addition, Jaguar will display its expanded five-model lineup for the first time in the U.S.

Don't expect any huge surprises with the Jaguar F-Pace, since it has already debuted at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Additionally, Land Rover has already unveiled the Range Rover Evoque Convertible online.

The Jaguar XE however, launched globally in 2015 but will arrive in North America in spring 2016 as a 2017 model year. This will be the first time the U.S. Jaguar XE model has been on display and the British automaker will also show off some key new features for the 2017 model. The sedan will have a starting price of $35,895 including destination and will be available with a variety of engines including a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel, a 240-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine and a powerful, 340-hp supercharged V6.

2017 BMW X3 Spied in Production Form But Still Wearing Camouflage

Posted:

The 2017 BMW X3 has been spied testing in Germany with its production body.

Compared to previous mules and prototypes, the BMW X3 appears to have come further in development now that the German automaker is no longer using a mule for testing purposes. The latest spy photos reveal the styling changes that BMW will have for the third-generation X3, which is expected to ride on the upcoming CLAR platform that will be shared with future models including the next 3 Series. The new platform will help the X3 shed up to 220 pounds compared to the current model.

Expect a wide range of powerplants for the next-generation X3, including four- and six-cylinder engines in gasoline and diesel variants as well as hybrid models. To help enhance fuel economy, BMW will use a new ZF-sourced nine-speed automatic transmission, while a six-speed manual (North American availability not yet confirmed) will also be available as an option on the four-cylinder mills. Performance enthusiasts can look forward to a BMW X3 xDrive40i M Performance model that is rumored to be powered by the brand's 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine.

Revealed: 2016 Nissan Titan XD Rated to Tow 12,314 Pounds

Posted:

Tow ratings for the new 2016 Nissan Titan XD have been quietly revealed by Nissan on its media website.

Spotted by TitanXDforums, Nissan lists the maximum tow rating for the XD at 12,314 pounds in base S trim when equipped with two-wheel drive. For now, all of the tow ratings released pertain to the diesel-powered Titan XD crew cab, the only model that will be initially available. Moving up in trim, the SV will be able to tow 12,164 lbs, while the PRO-4X off-road model can move 11,784 lbs. The SL and Platinum Reserve models are rated to pull 11,915 and 11,836 lbs, respectively. All of these tow ratings are for rear-wheel drive trucks. Opting for four-wheel drive will take about 276 lbs off the tow rating.

Nissan doesn't specify whether or not these numbers are SAE J2807 certified, though when the truck launches, the towing limits will be determined using this industry standard testing procedure. For GVWR, the release lists the Titan from 8,800 to 8,950 lbs depending on trim.

This number makes the truck best-in-class for half-ton pickups, though not by much. The 2015 Ford F-150 3.5L EcoBoost can pull 12,200 lbs on its hitch, while GM's half-ton trucks can hitch up to 12,000 lbs.

The Titan XD is powered by a 5.0-liter Cummins V8 diesel that makes 310 hp and 555 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic. Unlike the other automakers who are making their trucks lighter and therefore allowing for more trailer weight, Nissan has added large 14-inch vented brake rotors, beefier axles, a larger frame and strengthened suspension to its Titan XD to better accommodate heavier loads. This results in a heavy curb weight of between 6,709 lbs and 7,480 lbs.

In comparison, the new F-150 has a curb weight range of between 4,051 lbs and 5,009 lbs.

We recently has the chance to drive the new Nissan Titan XD diesel, though our review of the truck won't be released until Sunday, Nov.15. Check back for our impressions of the truck including a full video review.
