Chevy Silverado Special Ops Headed for Limited Production Posted: Chevy is going to build one of the concept trucks it presented at the 2015 SEMA Show. The Chevy Silverado Special Ops will go into limited production and was presented at the 2015 Army vs Navy football game with Chevy saying that proceeds from each one sold will go to the Navy SEAL museum. The Special Ops is clearly distinguished by its paint job, which a color called Razzle Dazzle that was developed over 100 years ago to disguise a Navy ship's speed, direction and profile to the enemy's eye. The shade is based on a three-tone blue exterior color that is marked by a distinctive array of varying colored lines and shapes intended to mask the ship. SEE ALSO: Chevrolet Silverado Concepts Bow at 2015 SEMA Show Besides its unique paint, the Special ops truck comes with plenty of accessories including a bed-mounted sport bar with LED lights, off-road tires, wheel flares, custom rocker guards, the bed-mounted GearOn utility rack storage system and more. 2016 Nissan Titan Gets New 5.6L Gas V8 with 401 LB-FT Posted: Nissan has announced what the gasoline V8 engine option will be in the new Titan and Titan XD. A 5.6-liter V8 will be available making 390 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque, improvements of 73 hp and 16 lb-ft of torque. Nissan calls is the 'Endurance' V8. Nissan says that this is an all-new engine which only shares displacement with the previous Titan. The 2016 version of the 5.6-liter V8 features variable valve event and lift technology, direct injection and four-valves per cylinder. Throttle response is said to be improved thanks to the new valve technology, while a new piston design allows for a high compression ratio and more performance. SEE ALSO: 2016 Nissan Titan XD Review When paired with the Titan XD, the engine will be linked with a seven-speed automatic that features adaptive shift control and automatic rev-matching downshifts. Nissan expects fuel economy to be improved, though no specific targets were mentioned. Gasoline-powered Nissan Titan XD Crew Cab models go on sale in Spring of 2016, while the standard Titan is expected to debut next summer. Novitec N-Largo Brings Supercharged Power, Widebody Style to Huracan Posted: German tuner Novitec Torado has released the N-Largo, its take on the Lamborghini Huracan. A supercharged version of Lamborghini's V10 is currently under development for the car and when it's finished it will put out around 860 horsepower and 708 lb-ft of torque. The N-Largo wears a widebody kit that is about 4-inches wider than the standard car at the rear and fender flares which bulge about 2-inches more than a Huracan. This extra space allows the N-Largo to use 12.5Jx21 wheels wrapped in 325/25 ZR 21 Pirelli P ZERO high-performance tires. The front wheels are slightly smaller at 20-inches, to accentuate the wedge shape of the car. SEE ALSO: Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2 Arrives with RWD The new front and rear bumpers, rear wing, rear diffuser and all the other little aerodynamics add-ons on the car were tested extensively in a wind tunnel to achieve optimal downforce. Thanks to sport springs, the N-Largo can be lowered to sit just over one-inch lower than the Huracan. Novitec also offers performance exhausts for the Huracan which are already available and are made from inconel, the same material used in Formula 1. Each exhaust system features a butterfly valve that allows the driver to have sound management control. Only 25 examples of the N-Largo will be made. Posted: Jaguar is getting back on the race track by joining the world's foremost all-electric racing league. The British brand will begin running in late 2016 at the start of Formula E's third season. "Electric vehicles will absolutely play a role in Jaguar Land Rover's future product portfolio and Formula E will give us a unique opportunity to further our development of electrification technologies," said Nick Rogers, Group Engineering Director for Jaguar Land Rover. An all-electric version of the Jaguar F-Pace crossover is expected to be the first EV from the brand, though with tightening fuel economy regulations it isn't likely to be the last. Renault and PSA/Peugeot-Citroen are the only two automakers to directly take part in Formula E, while Audi's longtime partner ABT also fields a car. The jump into Formula E marks Jaguar's first time being involved in organized racing since 2004 when then owner Ford pulled Jaguar out of F1. Volkswagen Developing Flat Batteries to Increase EV Range Posted: Volkswagen is looking to move past its diesel scandal by focusing on electric vehicles. The company will reportedly unveil a new all-electric vehicle concept at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) early next year that is assumed to be the Microbus concept. With the concept's debut, Volkswagen will also host a discussion about the future of its electric vehicles that will take advantage of a special vehicle architecture that can use flat batteries. The German automaker is calling the technology a breakthrough that will likely help increase range as well as lower the costs of electric vehicles. SEE ALSO: Volkswagen Teases All-Electric Microbus Concept Brand chief Herbert Diess also shared that Volkswagen is creating a new business segment called "New Volkswagen" that will bundle development of digital features for connected vehicles and related mobility services. Diess admits that "the automobile world is changing dramatically and new players have unbelievable resources," likely referencing technology companies such as Apple and Alphabet Inc. (Google). As a result, Volkswagen will be putting forth effort and investment into other things such as software development and battery production.
