The study, which compared the average premium increases for all 50 states and Washington, D.C., found that the largest increase after one claim was in Massachusetts, where the average person saw their rates jump 76.27 percent. Mercedes R-Class to be Built by AM General Posted: AM General, the same company you probably know for the Hummer, will soon build the R-Class for Mercedes-Benz. Yes, Mercedes still builds the R-Class, it just hasn't been on sale in the U.S. for three years. The seven-seat passenger van will now be built by AM General at its Indiana manufacturing facility. After being pulled from the American market in 2012, the R-Class became a China-only vehicle. In the U.S., the R-Class never caught on in North America, but it enjoys a loyal following in China. AM General is set to produce about 10,000 R-Class vans a year. The production run is indefinite and will continue until demand dries up. SEE ALSO: Mercedes GLE Coupe Details Mercedes made this move to free up space at its assembly plant in Tuscaloosa, Ala. to make way for the new GLE Coupe along with the refreshed M-Class and GL-Class. The brand is preparing to update most of its SUV portfolio this year, so it is making space for an anticipated rush of SUV demand. Discuss this story at our Mercedes Forum |
2016 Mazda MX-5 Horsepower Leaked Posted: Horsepower numbers for the new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata might have just leaked. According to a Chicago Auto Show webpage, the new car's 2.0-liter SkyActiv four-cylinder engine is going to make 155 hp. The information was reported by Autoblog, but appears to have been removed from the Chicago Auto Show's website. A Mazda spokesperson was not willing to confirm or deny the number's accuracy to Autoblog, saying that they "aren't sure where they got that number." SEE ALSO: 2016 Mazda MX-5 Engines Confirmed If it is accurate, the new car will make 12 less horsepower than the current MX-5, though the 2016 model's weight loss will give it a better power-to-weight ratio than the current MX-5. Previous reports have indicated that the new MX-5 will be getting the same engine 2.0-liter engine as the Mazda3, which puts out 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. VW, Audi and Porsche Recall 27K Vehicles Posted: Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche are recalling cars over the same issue: a fuel leak. In total, 27,000 vehicles are affected, all of which are fitted with a 3.0-liter V6 engine. Covered under the recall are the 2012 Audi A6, 2012-2013 A7, 2012-2013 Q7 and the 2011 through 2012 S4 and S5. Volkswagen is only calling back the 2012 Touareg hybrid while Porsche is bringing the 2011-2012 Cayenne and Panamera S hybrid back in to fix the issue. According to VW, driving vibrations along with a production issue can cause a fuel leak in some cases. The company is not aware of any fires that have resulted from this problem. Owners will be notified starting in March. The fuel injector rails and seals will be replaced for free on affected vehicles. Discuss this story at our Audi Forum |
Mercedes Debuts ‘The Big Race’ Super Bowl Ad Posted: Mercedes has revealed its 2015 Super Bowl ad, highlighting the new AMG GT sports car. Launched on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the spot plays off the classic hare vs. tortoise race, except in this version, an AMG GT ruins the tortoise's slow and steady plan. SEE ALSO: Watch all the 2015 Super Bowl Ads Many automakers are turning to popular TV shows to launch Super Bowl ads, which are now usually preceded by teaser videos and other buildup. "Marketers that approach the Super Bowl thinking it's only about a television commercial are missing half of the purpose," Drew Slaven, vice president of marketing for Mercedes-Benz told Automotive News. "The other half lies with all of the buildup that goes into getting people tied to what it is you're ultimately going to talk about inside that game." Super Bowl related content has already cracked 44 million views on YouTube through Jan.24, representing a 25 percent increase over 2014. This is driving automakers to stretch out their Super Bowl advertising campaigns beyond just one commercial that runs during the game. Get the Flash Player to see this player. Five-Point Inspection: 2015 Mercedes-Benz C400 4Matic Posted: The Mercedes-Benz W205 C-Class is bigger, more expensive and also more refined than any of its predecessors. It rides on a new modular platform that is stiffer, saves weight and should help to make the new C-Class much better than the W204 generation. Does it? |
