2017 Nissan GT-R NISMO Commands $65,000 Premium Posted: The 2017 Nissan GT-R NISMO will start from $176,585 including destination. Pricing was announced at the 2017 Nissan GT-R NISMO's North American debut at the Japanese Classic Car Show at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. Its price tag puts it $65,000 over the standard 2017 Nissan GT-R Premium, while adding 35 horsepower and 14 pound-feet of torque for a total of 600 hp and 481 lb-ft. A big part of the NISMO model is its styling changes, which include front and rear carbon-fiber bumpers, black outside mirrors with red stripe and carbon-fiber side sills and emblem treatment. It also features a handmade dry carbon spoiler that sports a special coating that allows the carbon-fiber "weave" to be felt. SEE ALSO: 2017 Nissan GT-R NISMO Debuts with Same Horsepower, Revised Styling Also standard on the 2017 Nissan GT-R NISMO is a special, lightweight titanium exhaust system. The four-wheel independent suspension also receives unique NISMO tuning, with reduced weight and additional roll stiffness. Helping increase body rigidity on the NISMO variant is additional adhesive bonding and spot welding. Options for the model include Super Silver ($3,000) and Pearl White ($1,000) paint and carpeted GT-R floor mats ($295). Discuss this story on our Nissan GT-R Forum Loading, please wait... |
Poll: Porsche Macan GTS or Audi SQ5? Posted: Crossovers are hot, even high-priced luxury models. Two comparable rivals are the Porsche Macan GTS and Audi SQ5, in fact you could say they're rival siblings, both being offered by the gigantic Volkswagen Group. But which one do YOU prefer? Well, here are a few facts about each of them. The 2017 Macan GTS is powered by a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V6. It delivers a wallop, 360 horses and 369 lb-ft of maximum torque to be precise. All that goodness is routed to the pavement through an advanced, seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. All-wheel drive ensures this Porsche never slips, unless the driver wants it to, of course. With the optional Sport Chrono package, the GTS can hit 60 miles an hour in as little as 4.8 seconds, a blistering time for a crossover vehicle. As for the Audi, their high-performance SQ5 also features a 3.0-liter V6 engine, but instead of turbochargers it brandishes a belt-driven supercharger to multiply atmosphere. With tons of cutting-edge technology, it delivers 354 horses and 346 lb-ft of torque, numbers that are not far off what you get in the Porsche. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard. Only a step or two behind its stablemate, the Audi in this comparison can reach mile-a-minute velocity in just 5.1 seconds, a time that's still VERY respectable. But what about pricing? Well, here's one area where the SQ5 has a distinct advantage, kicking off at around $54,000. In comparison, the Porsche starts at roughly 68 grand, a delta of around $14,000! You could buy a brand-new compact car for that much cash! But which of these performance-oriented small crossovers would YOU rather own? Please, vote in our poll and if you still can't pick a favorite, compare them both right here. Loading, please wait... |
The Chevrolet Volt Might Become a Buick in China Posted: The Chevrolet Volt could be called the Buick Velite in China. According to Chinese website Autohome, Shanghai GM is considering branding the Chevrolet Volt as a Buick model in China, where the brand is more prestigious and sells in higher volume. The above photo reportedly was taken at China's Ministry of Cars, where it approves new vehicles before they can be sold. As you can see, it's the Chevrolet Volt we know it in the U.S., but it's sporting Buick badging up front. SEE ALSO: 2016 Chevrolet Volt Premier Review What's unclear is whether the Buick Velite would be produced in China or imported from the U.S. In the past, the American automaker tried to sell the imported first-generation Volt in China, but it was priced at around $79,000, making it too expensive to market.
