Pennzoil has released the next Joyride video.

Last year, the company launched the new film platform that started with Airlift Drift and Prequel, setting the stage for what was to come this year. The latest video is called Joyride Tundra and that's not because there's a Toyota pickup in it. Rather, there's a signature Pennzoil Yellow 2016 BMW M6 being put to the test in the arctic tundra of Alberta, Canada with famous driver Rhys Millen behind the wheel.

French Cars Are Coming Back to US Streets, But You Can’t Buy One

Posted:

New vehicles from Group PSA, which consists of Peugeot, Citreon and DS, are returning to the U.S. streets but you won't be able to buy one, at least at first.

Fortune reports that PSA plans to start a car-sharing service in Los Angeles in partnership with Bollore Group. PSA has already starting investing in start-ups and expanding into new business ventures, part of a turnaround plan after the company nearly went bankrupt in 2014.

"We're working with a good number of cities, including LA, to offer car-sharing solutions with Bollore Group," CEO Carlos Tavares said. By 2021, PSA's goal is to generate $337 million in revenue strictly from its new mobility services division.

When the service will start and which vehicles it will use is not clear, though some have speculated that the service may launch the cars with an entirely new nameplate rather than Peugoet, Citroen or DS.

Launching the ride-sharing service will be the first step in a 10-year plan for PSA to begin selling cars in the US to the public.

GM Plans to Use 100 Percent Renewable Energy by 2050

Posted:

GM is going green in a big way, committing to using 100 percent renewable energy by 2050.

The automaker has pledged to source global electricity from wind, sun and landfill gas so that its 350 operations in 59 countries will run on 100-percent renewable energy. GM also announced that it is joining RE100, a global collaborative initiative of businesses committed to 100-percent renewable electricity.

The company revealed that last year it used 9 terawatt hours of electricity to build its vehicles and power its offices, technical centers and warehouses around the world. In order to meet its renewable energy goal, it will continue to improve the energy efficiency of its operations while transitioning to clean sources for its power needs.

In the short term, GM is focusing on its previous goal of using 125 megawatts of renewable energy by 2020. It expects to exceed that figure when two new wind projects come online later this year that will help power manufacturing operations. In China, GM is in the process of adding 30 megawatts of solar arrays to two facilities, with the Jinqiao Cadillac assembly plant in Shanghai featuring 10 megawatts of rooftop solar and 20 megawatts of solar carports.

"Establishing a 100 percent renewable energy goal helps us better serve society by reducing environmental impact," said GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. "This pursuit of renewable energy benefits our customers and communities through cleaner air while strengthening our business through lower and more stable energy costs."

Volkswagen Teases EV Concept Meant to Signal ‘New Era’

Posted:

Volkswagen has released teaser photos of the all-electric concept that it plans to show in two weeks time at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

Volkswagen says that this concept signals the brand's launch into a new era, claiming that this new car is as revolutionary as the original Beetle was when it debuted seven decades ago. Along with the car, Volkswagen will take to Paris to tout its new slogan, "Think New."

Although official details are under wraps, plenty of information has already been spilled on the new car. It will be slightly larger than a Golf and will be the first vehicle released on Volkswagen's new proprietary electric vehicle platform dubbed MEB. At the low end the car will be capable of about 250 miles (400 km) of range on a single charge while top-end models will be able to drive about 373 miles (600 km) on one charge.

You can also expect to see next-generation self-driving technology in this concept when it debuts. This will be the first of many new electrified models from Volkswagen, as it aims to move away from the dirty dealings of its diesel-emissions scandal.

The car based on this concept is expected to begin production by the end of 2019. Until then, Volkswagen will upgrade the range of the e-Golf to about 186 miles to help keep it competitive.

FCA Recalls 1.9M Vehicles for Another Airbag Defect

Posted:

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is recalling 1.9-million vehicles for a possible airbag defect.

The issue has been linked to three deaths and five injuries and according to FCA the vehicles being recalled are equipped with a particular occupant restraint control module and front impact sensor wiring that can potentially cause the airbags and seatbelts to fail in certain collisions. If all the factors are present, it could increase the potential for occupant injury said FCA.
