2016 Chevrolet Camaro Body Panel Leaked Posted: As Chevrolet gets ready to put its sixth-generation Camaro to production, a photo has leaked revealing the sports car's side panel. The leaked photo appeared on Camaro enthusiast forum Camaro6.com, and appears to be the first uncovered part of the 2016 Camaro's body to surface. While AutoGuide.com's spy photographers have caught the next-gen model testing, it has always been heavily covered concealing the majority of its body lines and features. The photo reveals the die that will be used to create the side body panel when the model heads to production. It also offers the best look yet at the roofline, rear fender and rear quarter panel. Considering it didn't make a noise at either the Detroit or Chicago Auto Show, New York could be its destination. Hear Morgan’s Next Car in a New Teaser Posted: Morgan just released a clip that includes a recording of what the car it will debut during the Geneva Motor Show will sound like. Earlier this month, the British automaker announced that it will host a world premiere in Switzerland early next month along with a teaser photo of the front end. The company has now released a short video that mostly showcases the interior of the upcoming model as well as its engine and exhaust note. SEE ALSO: Morgan Teasing New Car for Geneva While details remain light on the upcoming debut, it is expected to be part of the Aero family and it sounds like it'll be featuring a V8 under the hood. Given how many other automakers are equipping their standard production vehicles with forced induction, it seems likely that Morgan is turning to either turbocharging or supercharging on one of its Aero models for Geneva, adding even more power to the naturally aspirated 367-hp figure currently found on the Aero Supersports and Aero Coupe models. Mercedes G500 4×4² Revealed in Official Photo Posted: Mercedes has released a photo of its new off-road monster. Called the G500 4×4², this vehicle will serve as a flagship for the Mercedes SUV range and shares many of its components with the G63 AMG 6×6. Large fender flares, massive 22-inch wheels with 325/55 off-road tires, portal axles, revised front and rear bumpers and carbon fiber attachments are all found on the new G500. SEE ALSO: Monster Mercedes G500 4×4 Spy Photos Rather than use the twin-turbo V8 from the G63 AMG, power will come from a naturally aspirated V8 that makes 422 hp, an increase of 35 hp compared to the standard G500. The new G500 4×4² will be revealed at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Watch for more details to drop before the show gets underway. Volvo XC90 Polestar Details Begin to Surface Posted: Volvo's tuning affiliate Polestar has already begun the process of packing performance into the new XC90. "Our colleagues at Polestar are already looking at the car," Michael Fleiss, Volvo's Vice President of Powertrains told Auto Express. "But Polestar models will sit somewhere between the T6 and T8 [plug-in hybrid] on power." There will be two different Polestar versions available, one based on the D5 diesel model and the other on the four-cylinder T6. The diesel is currently rated at 225 hp while the supercharged and turbocharged four-cylinder T6 makes 320 hp. Since the larger T8 hybrid makes 400 hp, power is likely to sit somewhere in the neighborhood of 360 horses. SEE ALSO: 2015 Volvo XC90 Powertrain Details Announced A host of other upgrades are also on their way for the Polestar models, including a stiffer chassis, adjustable Ohlins dampers, Brembo brakes and added aerodynamics thanks to a new body kit. All of Volvo's top-end luxury and safety features will also be fitted in the Polestar. The standard XC90 will go on sale this summer, followed by the T8 plug-in hybrid version later in 2015. The XC90 Polestar is expected to arrive in 2016. [Source: Auto Express] Discuss this story at our Volvo Forum Loading, please wait... |
Nissan Jukes Further Away From Manuals Posted: The Nissan Juke is quietly distancing itself from offering a third pedal for the 2015 model year. While the Nismo and Nismo RS performance models are still available with a six-speed manual when configured with front-wheel drive, Nissan is ushering out the manual for its more pedestrian packages. Until the 2015 model year, which marks a mid-cycle refresh for the sub-compact crossover, customers could choose a manual in the SV model. Moving forward, non-performance oriented versions of the Juke are only available with Nissan's "Xtronic" continuously variable transmission. SEE ALSO: Five Point Inspection: 2015 Nissan Juke The Juke is only one part of a longstanding trend in the American automobile market toward automatic transmissions. Lexus cancelled the manual version of its IS compact sport sedan when it introduced the current generation, saying standard transmissions only accounted for a tiny fraction of sales in the previous generation. More recently, Acura abandoned the manual transmission altogether by cutting the six-speed stick from its ILX as part of a deep refresh. The new car uses the same 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and eight-speed dual-clutch automatic powertrain as the larger TLX, lending it improved fuel efficiency and more power. But manual transmissions aren't entirely out to pasture just yet. Honda is about to introduce its new HR-V, a newcomer within the Juke's segment. When it arrives this spring, customers will be able to choose between an automatic and a manual. Discuss this story at our Nissan Juke forum Loading, please wait... |
2017 Chrysler Minivan Interior Revealed Posted: Chrysler is preparing its next generation minivan and our spy photographers have snapped some photos of the vehicle out testing. Photos of the exterior show few details thanks to heavy camouflage on this prototype, but we did manage to get some clear shots of the interior. Most of what we can see appears to be borrowed straight from Dodge and Chrysler's current playbook. A touchscreen, likely an 8.4-inch unit, is found in the center console while a rotary shift knob is fitted to control the nine-speed automatic transmission that this van will use. Another large LCD screen is found between the tachometer and speedometer, sitting beneath a redesigned hood that covers the instruments. SEE ALSO: Chrysler 700C Concept Photos From the little we see of the exterior, it appears that the new minivan is taking its front fascia design cues from the Chrysler 200. Styling for the van will also take cues from the 700C concept which was rolled out in 2012. Underneath its new skin, the minivan will likely offer the brand's Pentastar V6 from launch, while a plug-in hybrid setup will join the lineup of offerings in 2017. Chrysler expects the plug-in hybrid minivan to return up to 75 mpg. Keen eyed observers will notice a Dodge badge on the back of this prototype, a strange sight considering that Chrysler has announced that the Dodge Grand Caravan has been axed and only the Chrysler Town and Country will live on. Considering the rear hatch design, it's most likely that this mule was cobbled together using old Grand Caravan parts, including the rear hatch with the Dodge badge. The van is expected to launch in 2016 as a 2017 model year vehicle. Discuss this story at our Chrysler minivan forum Loading, please wait... |
