Mitsubishi is turning to Nissan for help on its next midsize sedan.

Nissan has begun speaking with Mitsubishi on a possible collaboration on compact and midsize sedan models after talks with Nissan's alliance partner Renault broke down. According to a Mitsubishi spokesman, the Japanese automaker has put plans to replace the Galant on an indefinite hold but is still working on replacing the Lancer with a compact successor.

More importantly, Mitsubishi is hoping to find a partner to help reduce R&D and production costs, but could end up developing the model itself. The company is prioritizing a Lancer successor since it's a global model with demand in numerous markets, including the U.S.

Lancer sales dropped in the U.S. by 15 percent to 16,495 units last year but has seen an increase of 68 percent last month to 1,515 units.

Ford Focus RS AWD System Could Head to Other Models

The Ford Focus RS is just the beginning of more high-performance models from the American automaker.

Making its debut earlier this week, there was a lot to be excited about with the hot hatch including it's 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with over 320 hp. But perhaps what sports car enthusiasts are really looking forward to is the American automaker's new all-wheel drive system that not only delivers power to the front and rear wheels but is capable of distributing it side-to-side at each axle.

"If you look at the thread of the presentation and what we've used these fast Fords for in the past, a lot of mainstream technologies that we use today came from these vehicles," Joe Bakaj, Ford of Europe's VP of product development in an interview with Car and Driver. "And I can see this as one of those technologies of the future."

The system is similar to Land Rover's "Active Driveline," that is found in the high-performance variants of the Range Rover Evoque. Both Ford and Land Rover's systems utilize twin electronically-controlled clutches so that the rear axle can send torque to the wheels and of course, both are equipped with side-by-side torque vectoring. It is also being reported that Ford worked with Sweden-based GKN Driveline on its system, which is the same company that developed Land Rover's system.

Installing the system in other products would also be a smart financial decision considering how much it cost to re-engineer the Focus for all-wheel drive.

Ford has revealed its most powerful Edge yet.

Sporting a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine with 315 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque, the Ford Edge Sport will go on sale this spring and will be priced from $38,995, only an increase of $500 from the 2014 model.

The new performance specs mean the 2015 Edge Sport has 10 percent more horsepower and 25 percent more torque than its predecessor while returning 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway in front-wheel drive form. As is typical with all-wheel drive models, fuel economy suffers slightly, dropping to 17-mpg city, 24-mpg highway for 20-mpg combined.

In addition to more power under the hood, the Edge Sport also benefits from upgraded suspension with 15-percent stiffer front and rear antiroll bars while the rear monotube dampers are larger in diameter and the springs are 10-percent stiffer with 20-percent less body roll. The Edge Sport will come standard with 20-inch wheels with larger 21-inch rollers available as an option.

"The 2015 Edge Sport is exactly what it says it is – a utility vehicle that not only looks beautiful, but is a spirited performer," said Cristina Aquino, Ford Edge Consumer Marketing manager. "Ford customer research showed there was a strong desire for more in terms of power and content, and with the redesign of Ford Edge, we wanted to give customers a true sport version, which meant bringing the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 along for the ride."

BMW’s M6 Coupe Going GT3 Racing

BMW is prepping an M6 to compete in GT3-class races and it looks pretty sick.

This overpowered beast will rub fenders with supercars like the Lamborghini Huracán and McLaren 650S racer.

With a swirling black and white paint job, HUGE fenders, an aggressive front splitter and a wing that would look more appropriate on something built by Boeing, not BMW this car certainly looks the part … FAST. This specially prepared M6 is expected to go racing in the 2016 season.

As for power, it should feature a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8, the same engine found under the hoods of road-going M5s and M6s though it will be less powerful because GT3 regulations limit cars to "just" 500 ponies.

But don't think that because this model has been chocked back a little that it can't run. This race-ready machine should only clock in at about 1,300 kilograms, a little less than 2,900 pounds, something that will give it a very favorable power-to-weight ratio.

Your insurance company can't verify the annual mileage you drive, your marital status or who in your household drives your car, so why do they ask those questions when it comes to getting an insurance provider?

We reached out to an insurance expert for answers about what you share with your insurance provider. But one thing is for sure; your contract with an auto insurance provider is about trust.

"On every insurance application the consumer is asked to sign it in order to give consent," says Anne-Marie Thomas, a spokesperson from InsuranceHotline. "You're authorizing the insurance company to collect and assess your driving history in order to give you insurance." That means that your driving history and the answers you give on your insurance application is what makes up the majority of the profile that your provider has of you.
