Pagani Huayra Completely Sold Out Posted: The Pagani Huayra production run has been spoken for. Autoblog reports that the Italian automaker has confirmed the Huayra exotic has been sold out and those hoping to get their hands on a brand new one won't be able to. Pagani will continue producing the Huayra until all current orders are fulfilled, but after that no more units will be available. Last year, the company confirmed that the U.S. was the largest market for the Huayra, with 40 percent of its production heading to North America. SEE ALSO: Pagani Huayra Sells Best in America Powered by a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine sourced from AMG, the Pagani Huayra boasts 730 hp, allowing it to officially go 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds. But now that the Huayra is sold out, what's next for Pagani? Unfortunately the automaker hasn't confirmed any of its plans, but don't be surprised if the long-rumored roadster variant makes an appearance at this year's Geneva Motor Show. There are also reports that a more hardcore, track-only version is in development. [Source: Autoblog] Discuss this story at our luxury lifestyle forum Loading, please wait... |

Mazda Named Featured Marque at 2015 Goodwood Festival Posted: Each year the Goodwood Festival of Speed chooses to celebrate one particular brand and for 2015, its Mazda. The central feature of the festival will be a massive monument devoted to Mazda, celebrating the brand's 95-year history and its racing heritage. Mazda is the only Japanese automaker to ever win at Le Mans, using the rotary-engined 787B, just one of the cars that will take place in this year's Goodwood hill climb. The overall theme of this year's festival is "Flat-Out and Fearless: Racing on the Edge." SEE ALSO: 20 Awesome Photos From the 20th Goodwood Festival of Speed "Mazda has a long and proud heritage in racing, and through motor sport has demonstrated its engineering challenger spirit through the rotary engine, its Le Mans win and the LMP2 SKYACTIV diesel prototype currently racing in the United States," said Jeremy Thompson, Managing Director, Mazda Motors UK. Mercedes was the featured marque last year and the main sculpture featured a Mercedes F1 car suspended from a massive arch. Discuss this story at our Mazda Forum Loading, please wait... |
Toyota Tacoma Diesel Not Worth it Says Chief Engineer Posted: Despite the fact that GM's new midsize pickup trucks are about to get a diesel engine option, Toyota's all-new Tacoma will not. Speaking during a live chat, Tacoma and Tundra chief engineer Mike Sweers was unequivocal. "We will not be offering a diesel engine," he said. "We've looked at diesels, and diesel is a difficult topic right now because of the new Tier 3 emission regulations." Those Tier 3 regulations, set in place by the Environmental Protection Agency, are set to take effect in 2017, further reducing tailpipe emissions and, as a result, making diesel-powered light vehicles harder to pass, not to mention more expensive to build. Sweers is aware of the obvious advantages of a diesel engine. "Diesel, from a fuel economy standpoint, is about a 30 percent improvement right out of the box," he said. SEE ALSO: Toyota Confirms TRD Pro Tacoma However, that's not enough to offset the negative aspects of diesel engines. "The downside to diesel is the emissions has to be certified at the same level as a gas engine," said Sweers. "So the way to do that is you have to put on an after-treatment system." That system, he claims, would add as much as $3,000 to the cost of a vehicle. "So if we consider that cost, versus the fuel economy improvement, and the fact that diesel is $1 more per gallon more than gasoline, is there a return on the investment," asks Sweers rhetorically. Even if the answer is yes, Sweers wouldn't bet on diesel tech for the future, pointing to further emissions regulations taking effect in 2019 that could then shelve certain engines. "Can you make that diesel survive? Is it a two-year engine? Is it a four-year engine? That's the question," said Sweers. "It's very difficult to show a return on that investment." Instead, Toyota will continue to focus on gasoline engine options for the Tacoma, with a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder as well as a new 3.5-liter V6. Get the Flash Player to see this player. Jaguar F-Type RS Confirmed in Spy Photos Posted: A new set of spy photos has revealed that Jaguar is busy developing an even hotter version of its top sports car. Back in January, we reported that a faster, more powerful version of the F-Type was coming and now we have the proof. The F-Type RS adds all of the essential elements of a go-fast variant: larger air intakes, an aggressive front fascia, larger wheels with bigger carbon ceramic brakes, improved aerodynamics and of course, more power. The supercharged 5.0-liter V8 currently makes 550 hp in its most potent form, but will likely churn out about 600 ponies in the RS model. SEE ALSO: Jaguar Plans Even Hotter F-Type Model In these photos we see an F-Type RS Roadster hitting the streets, though an RS coupe is certainly going to join the lineup in the future. We don't know exactly when Jaguar will decide to officially reveal the new RS models, but it may be as soon as the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
