Despite being one of the largest cities in North America, the annual Canadian International Auto Show held in Toronto rarely gets much attention outside of the city.

But it's still a big deal. With lots of Canadian debuts, a few world debuts and some other automotive oddities, there's a lot to see in Toronto this year. Here are our top ten Toronto auto show must see items.

Mercedes G-Class Gets Crazy New Colors

For those who think the G-Class isn't striking enough, Mercedes now offers some crazy new colors to choose from.

The company has just added the "Crazy Color Edition" versions of the AMG-powered G-Glass to its lineup, which opens up a vibrant palette of paint finishes for the boxy vehicle, including this head-turning shade of green that is on display at the Canadian International Auto Show.

The Crazy Color Edition G-Glass AMGs are not cheap. In fact, you could buy a compact car for the price of Solar Beam shade, which adds over $17,000 to the price tag of your Benz. The most expensive version is the Galactic Beam, which rings in at around $22,500.

No pricing was provided for the Alien Green color shown above.

Helping to add a bit more flair to the Crazy Color Edition vehicles, the bumpers, wheel arches and side-steps are done up in Obsidian Black paint. The extra fashion makes its way into the cabin too, where the car gets matching stitching on the seats, dash, door panels, and center console.

Although we'd argue that the 536 horsepower G63 AMG and 612 hp G65 AMG are already special trucks, the Crazy Colors Editions helps add a little bit more exclusiveness to the luxury SUV.

Currently on sale, deliveries of the first Crazy Color Edition G-Class models will begin this March.

Toyota is showcasing special editions of the Corolla and Camry at the Chicago Auto Show this year.

The Camry went through a mid-cycle refresh that reached showrooms for the 2015 model year that gave it a thoroughly revised body. But for 2016, you will have the chance to buy a special edition that will include 18-inch wheels specific to the package, blue stitching on the dashboard, seats and shifter and a special gauge cluster.

Along with that, the car will also come with smoked taillights, a push button ignition, wireless charging and special floor mats among other small touches. Toyota plans to build 12,000 of the special edition models.

But that isn't the only special edition model the company is showcasing this year in the Windy City. There's also a special edition Corolla on display. It gets special 17-inch wheels with a gloss black finish, a black interior with red stitching, the same standard smart key and push button ignition as the special Corolla and unique floor mats. Toyota will build 8,000 copies of the special edition Corolla.

Toyota didn't say what either of the models will cost or exactly when they will arrive, but production begins in August so you can expect to start seeing them arrive late in the summer.

Hyundai revealed the 2016 Elantra GT today, marking the model's mid-cycle resfresh.

Very little will change for the five-door Elantra from a mechanical perspective, but for 2016 it gains a revised front fascia more in line with the new Sonata along with newly designed 17-inch wheels.

The interior is also being upgraded with better equipment that includes available cooled front seats, a new feature for the affordable compact segment. Customers also gain access to Hyundai's latest infotainment system that includes HD radio, Siri integration for drivers with an Apple iPhone and the latest Blue Link system that lets owners start their cars and configure climate control settings remotely to name a few.

2015 Chicago Auto Show Coverage

For 2016 the Elantra GT continues to be powered by a 2.0-liter direct injection four-cylinder engine that is paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. The powertrain creates 173 hp and 154 lb-ft of torque and is supposed to be capable of returning 24 MPG in the city, 33 MPG in the highway or 27 MPG overall.

Hyundai also announced complete pricing today for the upcoming model year, which will arrive this March. The starting price is unchanged relative to the 2015 model year at $18,800 for the manual or $19,800 for the automatic.

2016 Hyundai Veloster Turbo Gains Seven-Speed DCT

The Hyundai Veloster is getting a series of updates that range across the model line for 2016.

As sporty looking hatchbacks go, the Veloster probably doesn't need any help standing out, but that doesn't mean it will go without a traditional mid-cycle update. For the coming model year, Hyundai is adding new 17-inch alloy wheels and a revised front fascia that includes a revised hood.

It can also come with 18-inch optional wheels that are wider than before, now at 225 millimeters. Other enhancements include new black sport seats with yellow inserts that are packaged with specific car colors.

The 2016 model year also brings an upgraded seven-inch touchscreen that folds HD radio into the mix along with Apple Siri integration and the latest version of Hyundai's Blue Link telematics system.

2015 Chicago Auto Show Coverage

Engine and transmission options for the normal Veloster remain the same in 2016 meaning it will still use a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine to make 138 hp and 123 lb-ft of torque with the manual transmission or a slightly lower 132 hp and 120 lb-ft with the six-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Meanwhile, the Turbo model is still being offered with a six-speed manual, but customers can also buy it with a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox starting in May when the 2016 model year starts showing up at Hyundai stores.

Other updates to the Turbo model include new model-exclusive 18-inch wheels with a machined finish that measure 225 millimeters wide, making them the same width as the 18-inch wheels on the normal Veloster and also wider than the previous model year.

It also gets sportier front seats with bigger bolsters to hold front seat passengers in place more firmly and new gauges specific to the Turbo model.
