Ford Fiesta RS Hot Hatch Rumored |
Ford Fiesta RS Hot Hatch Rumored Posted: Ford could be planning an even hotter version of its Fiesta hatchback. Rumor has it that the American automaker is considering adding a Fiesta RS to its lineup, a hot hatch that would fit in the brand's focus on performance that can be seen with its new Shelby and GT models. Ford Performance has promised to launch 12 models by 2020 which will include the Focus RS, the GT that debuted in Detroit earlier this year and variants of its F-150 and Mustang models. SEE ALSO: 2014 Ford Fiesta ST vs. Subaru BRZ In an interview with Autocar, Ford Performance manager Tyrone Johnson said that work is already underway for a new, high-performance variant of the Fiesta but wouldn't reveal whether it would be badged as a replacement for the ST or as an additional RS model to the lineup. Johnson did confirm that the model will be based on the current chassis, meaning it should be unveiled within the next two and a half years. The new Focus RS is expected to make its debut at this year's Geneva Motor Show, so we might get a better idea on what's in the works for the Fiesta then.
