2016 Cadillac ATS-V Actually Makes 464 HP

2016 Cadillac ATS-V Actually Makes 464 HP

2016 Cadillac ATS-V Actually Makes 464 HP

Posted:

It turns out the Cadillac ATS-V makes more power than initially announced.

The hot-version of the ATS makes 464 hp thanks to its twin-turbo V6 engine, 9 more ponies than the initial estimate of 455 hp. Torque output remains the same at 445 lb-ft.

Thanks to the jump in power, the car's statistics have also changed. The sprint to 60 mph now happens in 3.8 seconds as opposed to 3.9, while top speed has improved to 189 mph, compared to the previously announced 185 mph limit. These stats apply to cars equipped with the eight-speed automatic transmission rather than the available six-speed manual.

All of the other elements are in place to make this a great trackday car, namely Brembo brakes, lightweight 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive suspension, Michelin Pilot Super Sport and more.

Watch the 2016 Jaguar XF Drive Over a Tightrope

Posted:

Jaguar has something special planned for the debut of the all-new XF.

Before the car is revealed under the lights at the 2015 New York Auto Show next week, it will perform a daring tightrope walk for all to see. It will take place in London today at 3 p.m. Eastern (7 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time).

Jim Dowdall, an action movie veteran who has done stunts in Bond, Bourne and Indiana Jones films will drive the XF across two 34 millimeter wires suspended high above water.

The 2016 Jaguar XF will be built on the British automaker's new aluminum-intensive architecture, which will help the car lose plenty of weight. Expect the 2016 Jaguar XF to be sold in the U.S. this fall.

2016 Audi A6 Named IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus

Posted:

The Audi A6 has received a top safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Audi had to modify the 2016 A6 to make sure it would perform well in the small overlap crash test, so rating only applies to cars built after January of 2015. Top marks across the board mean that the 2016 A6 has been named a Top Safety Pick Plus by the IIHS.

In the small overlap test, the maximum intrusion was four-inches at the foot rest, leaving plenty of space for the driver. The airbags controlled the dummy's movement easily and overall, the IIHS says there is a low risk of injury in this type of crash.

The small overlap test replicates what would happen if a car strikes a tree or telephone pole with only 25 percent of its face overlapping the obstacle.

Audi's front crash prevention system on the A6 allows it carry the 'plus' moniker. The IIHS says that the vehicle reduced its speed by 10 mph in the lower-speed test thanks to automatic braking, but only reduced speed by 1 mph in the high-speed test, not enough to earn any credits. Still, the A6 earned an advanced rating for its front-crash avoidance technology.

2016 Tesla Model X Spied in Public

Posted:

Tesla is busy preparing its third vehicle to reach the market.

The Model X crossover is slated to launch by the third quarter of 2015 and a video taken in Palo Alto, Calif. shows that the brand is out testing the crossover on public roads. Styling looks mostly the same as the concept version that Tesla has already shown off, though camouflage is hiding some of the details from view.

The Model X has experienced delays, enough so that Tesla released a letter to its shareholders in the third quarter of 2014 explaining the slowdown. "Work continues on the finalization of Model X with the testing of Alpha prototypes and initial builds of the first Beta prototypes. Model X powertrain development is almost complete with the early introduction of Dual Motor drive on Model S. We recently decided to build in significantly more validation testing time to achieve the best Model X possible," Tesla said in the letter.

The crossover will come with Tesla's dual-motor all-wheel drive system as standard equipment and will offer three different powertrain variants: a 60 kWh, 85 kWh and 85 kWh Performance package. Range is expected to be around 300 miles with the 85 kWh battery.

Range Rover Evoque Convertible Spied at the Nürburgring

Posted:

Land Rover is hitting the race track to test out its new droptop Evoque.

The brand recently confirmed that the Evoque Convertible would see production and will be on sale in the U.S. come 2016. From the photos we can see that styling for the new model stays true to the current Evoque, save for the roof which carries a slightly different line.

Our spy photographers caught two prototypes testing, one on the famous German race track and the other in Sweden, doing winter testing.
