Chevy Volt Recalled for Carbon Monoxide Risk Posted: The Chevrolet Volt is being recalled for a possible carbon monoxide risk. The recall affects about 64,000 units from the 2011-2013 model years and the American automaker is aware of two injuries that occured due to carbon monoxide exposure. Affected vehicles will get a software update that will limit how long the car can be left idling in order to prevent carbon monoxide buildup if the vehicle isn't shut off. The problem occurs if the driver unintentionally leaves the Volt running while it's in electric mode, causing the battery to fully drain and the gasoline engine to turn on. The software fix as a result of the recall will limit the time that the idle Volt can be left in the "on" position. As the automaker looks to boost fuel economy, even the base-model Honda Civic will turn to a downsized turbocharged engine for its next generation. Honda's global R&D chief Yoshiharu Yamamoto confirmed the news saying, "Downsized turbocharging will be the base, even for the Civic." The company has also confirmed plans to start producing the turbo engines in 2015 and the redesigned Civic could make its debut as early as this year. Chevrolet Trax, Encore Stop-Sale Ordered Posted: General Motors has ordered a stop-delivery on the 2015 Chevrolet Trax and Encore models to resolve a steering issue. The American automakers have informed dealers that there's a pending safety recall for the Trax and Encore crossovers to fix a potential loss of electric power steering. The stop-delivery order affects approximately 2,300 units and some of the affected vehicles may have its steering column assembly housing touching against the power steering circuit board. As a result, the contact could eventually wear on the power steering printed circuit board to cause a sudden loss of power steering assist.
