Despite all of the high-horsepower cars from all the familiar names making their debut at the Geneva Motor Show, its the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG 003 cars that managed to really impress us.

Built from the ground up around a carbon fiber chassis, the SCG 003 is not based on any car, but does use a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 sourced from Honda and developed by Autotechnica Motori. Engine output hasn't been specified yet. An F1-style pushrod suspension is used as well as "down-force and engine torque that are unknown in the supercar world" to keep this vehicle on the road.

Two versions of the car are on display at the show, a road going model dubbed the SCG 003 S (for Stradale) and a race ready model called the SCG 003 C (for for Competizione). The folks at Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus are looking to offer its car to a select group of enthusiasts to race in the 24H of the Nurburgring.

Pricing for the road model is set at 2.3 million euros ($2.57m USD) while the race model costs 2.1 million euros ($2.34m USD)

Mazda MX-5 to Officially Spawn New Fiat 124 Spider

Mazda and Fiat have joined forces in an unlikely alliance. The result of this partnership is that the Italian brand will get a version of the Japanese automaker's new MX-5 sports car and it will be called the Fiat 124 Spider.

Breaking this major news at the Geneva Motor Show, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles boss-man Sergio Marchionne confirmed to Auto Express that this new roadster will be coming out, though it's still unclear if it will be branded a Fiat or an Abarth … or both.

The car will be built in Hiroshima, Japan by Mazda, though the MX-5 will bow first when it goes on sale later this year. Fiat's version is expected to be introduced about 12 months later in 2016.

Naturally these two cars will share major mechanical components including the chassis and wheelbase. However, styling is one area where they will likely diverge, and significantly. It's rumored the Fiat version will be a lot more retro, wearing design cues from the Fiat 124 of the 1960s.

Powertrain could be another major differentiator. The Mazda will offer a pair of naturally aspirated four-cylinders while the Fiat variant could be motivated by a turbocharged MultiAir unit, possibly the 1.4-liter version found in many of its other products.

In addition to all of this, Marchionne confirmed that Alfa Romeo will also get a roadster, though he did not share any details about this model. All he said is that it will be built in Italy, meaning it's likely not another version of the MX-5.

Audi R8 LMS Race Car Revealed

A spectacular sports car, the R8 has also developed an impressive reputation in motorsports, so it comes as no surprise that with the launch of a new generation model the racer isn't far behind.

In fact, it's right on the bumper of the new 2017 model, debuting just moments after that car took the spotlight today at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland.

Built to meet new FIA GT3 regulations the new Audi R8 LMS is lighter and safer than before, with new technology and aerodynamics (badass aerodynamics if do say so ourselves).

SEE ALSO: Geneva Motor Show Coverage

The car's new weight has been reduced roughly 50 lbs to 2,700 lbs thanks in part to a new aluminum and carbon fiber structure that, when combined with the steel roll cage, sheds 66 lbs.

If your much of a mathematician you'll quickly realize that those numbers don't add up. That's because extra weight has been added to the car through new safety innovations that include a new carbon fiber crash box, Audi's "Audi Protection Seat PS 1″ borrowed from the R18 prototype race car, as well as a new roof opening adapted from DTM cars that allows for easy removal of the driver's helmet in a crash without unnecessarily twisting his/her neck.

As for the aerodynamics the car now gains a full underfloor tray and integrated rear diffuser, allowing for a smaller rear wing with less drag. Audi says the airflow rate and surface area of the front radiator have increased 10 percent, while more fresh air is brought into the cockpit to keep the driver alert.

As for the engine, the factory V10 remains mostly unchanged in the LMS model, with the 5.2-liter unit making 585 hp.

R8 race cars will be available to order by teams starting in Q3 with deliveries before the end of 2015.

The new R8 LMS will first hit the track at the Nürburgring 24 Hour race on May 16/17 looking to live up to the original car's 26 GT3 Championships.

Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Previewed

An all-new Hyundai Tucson debuted at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, featuring a new design and safety systems, but the company is also showcasing a pair of high-tech hybrid powertrains.

Two new Tucson hybrid concepts are on display at the show, one a conventional mild-hybrid, while the other is a plug-in hybrid. Starting with the mild hybrid, Hyundai calls it a 48V Hybrid. It uses a 48-volt lithium-ion battery and 14 horsepower electric motor to boost power. The Korean automaker says this system will also significantly reduce emissions. Hinting at its use in production cars, the company states such a system is significantly cheaper than a full hybrid setup, and would be useful in large cars and SUVs.

The second concept is a plug-in hybrid model which can travel up to 50 kilometers (31 miles) on a single charge. That's possible thanks to a 10.7 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack, and a 67 horsepower electric motor that also works in unison with a 1.7-liter turbocarged four-cylinder diesel engine. That hybrid powertrain is mated to a seven speed dual clutch transmission and Hyundai claims the hybrid can recharge in just two and a half hours with fast charging or five hours using a standard outlet.

Nissan Sway Concept Previews Hatchbacks to Come

Small cars don't have to be devoid of style.

That's the message Nissan is looking to get across with its new Sway concept, which debuted today at the Geneva Motor Show.

Taking design cues from the likes of the new Murano SUV and Maxima sedan, the Sway concept makes use of an angular "V-motion grille" up front and plenty of dramatic lines. Other design highlights include the hiked-up C-pillars, floating roof and boomerang taillamps.

Inside the car gets a clean cabin inspired by the IDx concept.

Measuring three-inches shorter in length than a Versa Note but 6-inches longer than a Micra it's not exactly clear what model this new concept is replacing. Not that it matters, really.

In a statement Nissan says, "future Nissan models in different market segments in all regions will follow this styling direction."
